Hibanobambusa tranquillans ‘Shiroshima’ is unmistakable with it’s gorgeous, over sized and variegated leaves. This may be the tallest growing bamboo with such strongly variegated leaves; some of them appear cream colored with green stripes.

Description

The variegation is persistent year round. When the temperature and sun exposure is just right, the tips of the leaves turn pink and purple. It is thought to have originated from Japan and to be a natural hybrid. Shiroshima is an aggressive easy to grow bamboo that will grow in almost any lighting conditions, both indoors or out. When grown in a pot, large privacy barriers can be easily created. This bamboo is an unusual type that stands out.
