Semiarundinaria fastuosa ‘Viridis’ is one of our fastest growing bamboo plants. It has very large tropical looking leaves that measure up to 10 inches long. The branches are very densely packed with leaves that seem to grow out in tiers along canes that have persistent leaf sheaths, giving it an unusual tropical look. The canes shoot very closely together in the ground creating a solid screen with good sound protection. Add to these characteristics, very upright stature and you have a great choice for a privacy screen, or specimen planting.
Although rated to 30 feet our Semiarundinaria fastuosa ‘Viridis has only grown to about 15 feet tall here at Bamboo World. We estimate it may grow a little shorter than rated here in the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver of British Columbia.
This versatile bamboo can be grown in sun or shade, as well as indoors, or outdoors.
Other names for this bamboo are Japanese Palm Bamboo, Narihira, and Green Temple Bamboo.
