Moso is the largest temperate Bamboo on Earth. Magnificent forests are found in China, where this is the #1 commercially grown bamboo. It is grown widely for its new shoots prized as food and for it’s wood. The young culms are covered with a velvety coat of soft hairs. It is slow to reach timber size.

The culms of Phyllostachys vivax 'Aureocaulis' are yellow with several green stripes of various widths running vertically along the canes. Like plain Vivax, this variety of giant hardy timber bamboo is the fastest to reach spectacular sized groves. This bamboo is known to revert to Vivax Huangwhenzhu and Vivax as one of ours has done, so it is possible to end up with three different cultivars from this one.  This is one of our favorite bamboos.
