This variety of giant hardy bamboo is one of the most vigorous and fastest growing. Its culms can reach 4" in diameter, in 3 years using a rigorous fertilizing program. It resembles P. Bambusoides except the culms have thinner walls and there is generally a white powdery band beneath each node with gray green mature culms. Nice edible shoots.
