Like
congesta and heteroclada this bamboo has small air canals
inside the rhizomes making it tolerant of wet soil. The almost solid green
canes are very erect, of good quality and usually have flared nodes. The new shoots are
edible and free of acrid taste and the cane sheaths are an olive-green with
stripes of white and wine.
