Fargesia nitida (Fountain Bamboo) (Sold Out - This is Old Generation and Expected to Flower Soon)

Fountain bamboo is similar to Fargesia murielae except it has a stronger arching effect and darker culms. The culms are a dark mahogany color with a bluish white powder when young. This is a great bamboo for the lazy gardener. It is tough, beautiful and clumping.  Nitida is flowering in many parts of the world and we expect ours to flower soon (within the next 5 years).  Nitida is a gregarious flowerer and usually dies after the onset of flowering.  The last time it flowered was in the 1880's so it is a very rare event and we are looking forward to the seeds that will be produced as a result.  This is an excellent opportunity for the serious bamboo collector to obtain seeds which could produce a new rare form of Nitida.  (1 gallon $15.00, 2 gallon $22.50, 3 gallon $34.00,  5 gallon $47.50, 7 gallon $57.50)
